day 2048: Pauses

Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.”

Many will tell you that it’s good to pause and think before acting.  It’s good overall advice.  But when things are moving quickly and we need to keep pace, then pausing can be a big problem. The key is in knowing what the pause really is about.  Is it to be thoughtful and more deliberate so that mistakes are reduced or avoided?  Or is the pause about doubt, risk-avoidance, or fear of failure?  You see, one pause is good and the other is not.  Knowing which is which is the first step in making the right decision.

One pause that we can all exercise and know that there will be positive results is to pause and pray before we act or decide.  Jesus paused His day just before daybreak.  With regularity we can pause and pray, or we can pause and pray at many a moment throughout our day.  So, consider that this day can be filled with many pauses.
