day 2524: Secure Updates

“I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.”

Have you ever gotten the notification that you need to update your software, but you sit and stare at the notice wondering if this is real or not?  Is this safe?  Is the update secure or am I falling for a phishing scheme and with one click I will be in real trouble, crash my hard drive, lose my identity?  It’s a scary moment and one that takes caution.  Soon, that concern will be a thing of the past as blockchain technology will carry the security of updates across devices and constantly be checking for legitimacy, reducing our risks.  Blockchain could well be the antidote to many of the poisons that come with the internet. Soon, we may be able to actually get control of what we are sent, see and hear.  But until then, we remain in the time of doing the extra homework to be sure that we are secure in our updates.

I’ve come to a place in my own life where I don’t feel like I can’t believe anything I hear and half of what I see and read. Even messages that I consider positive and encouraging, I feel the need to be secure that where they come from is the truth and are correct.  Where do we go for this security? God has given us His Word as the place where we can validate and check in for truth and security.  Anything we face today can be found with direction on what we should do in God’s Word. That direction may be to dig deeper with prayer and wise counsel from others but if we are looking for secure updates for our lives, His Word is right here for us!
