day 2057: Behind The Scenes

“Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables.”

Ever run across a piece of work that stuns you? Or hear a speech or presentation that makes your jaw drop because each word or image has an immediate impact? Or had a conversation with someone where it is obvious they have polished their thoughts long before the conversation? It’s not obvious, but the reason these happen is because someone put a lot of time and effort into what they are creating. This is the work that happens behind the scenes. If someone isn’t willing to spend real time behind the scenes then the work will never be as good as it could be. And, when poor quality is what we experience then we have someone who isn’t putting in the extra time and effort necessary.

Jesus spoke in parables. Now, we know that every word of His were inspired by the Father, but still, these parables didn’t just roll off of his tongue. Coming up with parables to tell a story or message, take a lot of thought, a lot of behind the scene work. We know that Jesus spent much time in prayer, but we should also be grateful and appreciative for the energy and time He put into creating parables from which we can still learn and live today! What a gift to have a God who cared so much!
