day 2328: Toast Not Boast

As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.”

The joke goes, “You know how to know if someone owns a Tesla?”….”They tell you”.  The same can happen with our New Year’s Resolutions.  We can be quick to tell others what it is that we are accomplishing and when we do, that can come across as boastful.  We are trained to tell a good story whether it be in our funding pitches or our marketing campaigns, but we should be careful that these don’t become boastful, for it is when we boast that others want to try to rip that boast apart.  A good lesson is don’t boast, just quietly raise a toast to what has already been achieved.  Leave the boasting up to someone else.

The Apostle Paul is clear, let’s not boast unless we are boasting about the Lord. This is where we could do better in that our problem is typically not that we boast too much about Him, but that we don’t boast at all about what He is doing on our lives.  Let’s take a moment today and consider what it is about this year that we are excited about and what has us really fired up in our businesses?  And then, let’s think about where all of this starts?  It starts with what we have been given and entrusted by our Lord!  For that, let’s both toast and boast!
