day 2176: Best Use Of Resources

“You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’s and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!”

We must always ask ourselves, “What is the best use of our resources?”  As part of that question and evaluation though is how we define “resources”.  Too many times we stop short in that definition and leave ourselves measuring and accounting for our capital, technology, and labor.  But, how often do we dig below the surface and evaluate how we are utilizing our energy, commitment, dedication and belief in what we are trying to accomplish?  I am sad to say that this is usually not considered openly and if so it is done in a cursory manner.  However, at the end of the day, these are resources that matter the most and are not always easily renewable.

Jesus redefined everything when He told us that we are to love our enemies.  It took Jesus, The Son of God, to make such a radical shift in thinking and direction for eternity.  And, we must challenge ourselves daily to see if we can live up to this tall order.  We can start by checking ourselves in how we are utilizing our own resources (energy, time, emotions, words, actions) when dealing with others live, on social media and over email.  If we can’t find decency, kindness, grace and understanding in the smaller ways, then it’s hard to think we can live up to what Jesus asks us to do.
