The cycle has started again.  The pressures on Corporate Profits are forcing many to cut costs and the obvious target turns out once again to be labor. So, we are daily seeing companies announce rounds of layoffs. If you are interested in who and how many, there has been a tracking website created called, Layoffs.fyi.  Sadly, I expect that this will become a popular destination over the coming months.

Our work can become so much of who we are that we put ourselves at risk if that work or job is taken from us.  We can. without recognizing it, idolize our work and jobs and begin to put them above all else in our lives. Also, we all might feel safe in the position that we are in, but look no further back than 2008-2009 when so many people who thought they were secure, were surprised when they were laid off.  Now, before things get too choppy is the time to recenter and be sure that God is the foundation of our lives, not our work, our job, our title, etc.  God is waiting on us to make Him that solid life foundation.
