day 2979: Retire….Replace….Repeat

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts.  Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”

Yesterday I participated in a great Strategy Session. I’ve sat in many of these and I was wondering why it was so much better than ones of the past.  One of the reasons was timing.  This was this company’s first live meeting of all of the principals and as the consultants challenged us on rethinking the business, there was an openness which I think is safe to attribute to post pandemic experience.  This company is coming out of COVID stronger than before with many new ideas, services and processes that hadn’t been considered before COVID.  So, when it came time to do what Jon Acuff, one our recent FDE guests, encourages….Retire, Replace, Repeat, the team was ready and excited.  It might be that we will never have a more receptive time such as this to really look in the mirror and figure out what to retire, what to replace and put in an ongoing process to do this regularly.

God is so good when it comes to our failing and sins.  He set it up with such simplicity and elegance that He took away our sins so that we can retire them and replace them with His goodness and spirit.  And when fail again and again, He allows us to repeat our repentance.  How good is that?  So, what needs to be retired and replaced today in our lives?  And if we haven’t repeated this process in a while, today can be the day to start again!
