“There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?”

Yesterday, Senator John Glenn died.  He’s a name that has been with me my entire life when he first went into space the year I was born.  There have been many in history who have done things that no one else has ever done, but I think being the first man to leave earth, go into space and orbit the earth, is as about as courageous and daring as anything we can imagine.  The courage to be the first to give it a try and the commitment to risk his life and change the life of his loved ones if it didn’t work, sets a high standard for us all.  We are asked to be daring and innovative, but not many of us will ever be asked to go as far as John Glenn did.

I never said, “I want to be an astronaut”.  But, I have wondered and wished what it would be like to leave Earth and be able to see and understand what is beyond this place we temporarily call home.  And, someday, we will get the chance to go to that place (whatever it turns out to be) and gain that full view, the full understanding of what is being prepared as our next place, when we leave this earthly life.
