day 3K51: Overcoming

“But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.”

It was Voltaire who said, “Work saves us from three great evils: boredom, vice and need.”  Even within our work we have to overcome these three.  And if we are going to do so, we need to provide work environments and work content that captures not only our energy and passion, but also our imaginations.  We also have to ensure a workplace that is free from the toxic that pollutes with politics, integrity lapses and poor treatment of others.  And, we must pay attention, more than ever, to the individual needs of our employees.  This last one feels so all consuming right now as just when we think we have done the right things someone else resigned.  I’ve been in the weeds of this problem now long enough to tell you that there is no one-size fits all silver bullet solution.  What I do know is that, again now more than ever, making the personal connection between what an employees needs, what they want and gaining an understanding of their relationship with their work, is critical if we want to overcome to retain our best people.

God tests us as he did Job.  Fortunately for most of us we won’t experience all that Job had to endure.  But, that doesn’t mean that our tests won’t feel just as impacting to our trust and faith.  What we can be assured of is that He knows each and every part of us and when we are being tested, His desire is that we strive for purity.  Whatever it is that we are trying to solve right now will be alright and yes, He will make sure that we overcome!
