day 2330: In Process

Each day you must sacrifice a young bull as a sin offering to purify them, making them right with the Lord. Afterward, cleanse the altar by purifying it; make it holy by anointing it with oil.”

It’s January and sometime soon, it’s a good bet that we will be involved in some type of planning meeting. Usually at the first of the year these will feel more strategic in nature, looking forward to inspire and motivate us to reach to the future with enthusiasm and hope. There is power in the process of planning.  Like many of our resolutions at the beginning of each year, we find satisfaction in the daily progress and movement. Without a focus on planning and process we can end up feeling stalled or without a purpose to be pulled towards.  Who is planning the process for which your company or team will move forward? Do we have someone who creates and tends the strategy to achieve the future?

A few months ago I was blessed to reconnect with a former PepsiCo colleague who now works with non-profits and faith groups. His corporate expertise was operations and manufacturing, but today He brings strategic process and planning to organizations that could not afford to have it otherwise.  As we talked, He mentioned that He finds that, when invited in, God shows up in the process and through the process of thinking and planning He can reveal His will in a way that is remarkable. It got me thinking that God introduced us all to process and especially in the Old Testament He instructed very clear and precise process to be followed. And even Jesus, as He taught us how to pray, reminded us of the daily process we are to follow.  Let’s be reminded today that as we work to His glory we can also work towards His process, which will reveal to us His unique plans just for us.
