3K72: 3D Escapes

“And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.”

Disney just received the patent to project 3D images.  That’s a pretty big deal when you think about it. Imagine being someplace, or even at home and have a 3D image of a character, historical person, or living person, standing next to you talking or even conversing with you?  I think that might be really cool.  Disney is contemplating using it in their theme parks and personalizing (note the recent post on personalization) the projections to their consumers wishes and dream characters.  Yep, I think that is a winner.  Right now Disney doesn’t say when or where they will begin utilizing the technology (or if it can really be commercialized) but given the growth in all things immersion and escape, I would predict that they might make more money off of licensing the technology and the patent than what they will make by keeping it to themselves.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it is in our human condition that continues to drive us to want to escape the lives we are in.  Whether it be the new total immersion experiences, vacation adventures, getting lost in TV, books and music, or even the bad things that we put into our body that temporarily give a feeling of escape, we seem to be drawn to these “escapes”.  And in the bigger picture while we have so many problems right in front of us, we are spending time, energy and many resources trying to escape into space and into the metaverse.  The antidote to our need to escape can only be a pursuit of God, not in the heavens or in the ether, but inside of us.  It is not wrong for any of us to look forward to entering the Kingdom of God and the place He has prepared for us, but in the meantime, He has plenty for us to do right here in our own reality where we are in 3D and He resides with us.  Rather than try to escape, let’s lock Him in tightly within our hearts.
