day 3K18: Eye Of The Storm

“When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm. Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?””

Today, many in the southeast of the US are waking up to what Hurricane Ida has left them as it hit them hard last night.  It was just a week ago today that we were doing the same here in Rhode Island after Tropical Storm Henri hit us dead on.  We were lucky with Henri.  Those affected by Ida are having it mush worse. Within a hurricane or tropical storm is an eye.  It’s very eerie as the eye passes. It is if there never was any storm at all.  It’s so calm and serene that it is beautiful and can cause a false sense of security.  But, there is another wall to still come and many times it can be the worst part of the storm.  When we experience storms in our businesses and lives and it feels like they are over and done with, let’s be super cautious that we aren’t be deluded and that in reality we are only in the eye.

When Jesus woke up, the storm was over for good.  I love this account of His life because it reminds me that when we put our trust in Him, there is no storm that can overtake what He has in store for us.  Jesus is always awake for us, but are we awake for Him?  Are we ready to turn our storms over to His watchful and loving eye?
