day 2430: System Creep

“Rather, I make myself guilty if I rebuild the old system In already tore down”

It’s that time across the country when every plant is doing all they can to grow, grow, grow!  We can see it here in the Northeast (where are all summer) and with all the plants we want to grow, there are the weeds we don’t want who compete just as vigorously.  And, no matter how we cut them back, they keep on coming. And so are the systems and parts of our businesses that we think we have cut back, taken out, eliminated once and for all…like the perennial weeds of the yard, they always creep back.  What this means is that we have to continuously be on the lookout and ready to get out the shears and the Roundup and go at it again and again.  The good news is that if we are cognizant and learning, we know where they tend to grow from and we don’t have to hunt, we can go right back to where they grew before and weed them out again…for now.

And so it is in our own lives.  We can rid ourselves of the ways we don’t want to be and then we find ourselves right back to where we were, because we fall back and allow the system creep to happen to us. We are a people of pattern and we can learn much about ourselves in God’s Word as He gives us case study after case study of who we are and what we can become.  The only “roundup” in our lives that truly works is the constant application of our faith and the following of the grace and direction of Jesus.
