day 2018: What’s In Us?

“She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.”

It’s also at this time of the year that we consider how we are going to achieve what is in front of us for next year; 2016.  To do that correctly, we have to know what we can do, what we can’t and how we must change to succeed.  Knowing truly who we are, and what is in us is the hard part.  We can always more easily define what we must do than to forecast how we will be able to do it.  So, if we think we are going to move things forward next year, then we better honestly, in an unvarnished way evaluate what it is going to take deep within us to make it all come together.

When Jesus entered this world He did so in the most unassuming place and way possible.  He entered this earth among the animals of a dirty stable and proved to us all that if He can be birthed there, then He can reside within the worst places of each of us.  It was with this baby’s first act of love that we it is possible for Jesus to live within us along side all of the unclean that we are.  It is why we can, this week celebrate knowing that He and Christmas are in us.

Last summer, I became acquainted with the singer/songwriter Lamont Hiebert.   Last week he sent me a demo of his new song, “Christmas in Us”.  I asked him for permission to allow us to listen to the demo here.  Lamont also offered that if you’d like a free download of the song just reach out to him: hiebertlamont@gmail.com.  We’ll hear more from Lamont and this song next Christmas.  Until then, enjoy this Christmas gift, reminding us of what can be within us.
