day 2119: Bosses Rule

“Masters, be just and fair to your slaves. Remember that you also have a Master—in heaven.”

Well of course bosses rule. But not in the way that we think about how Kings and Masters ruled their servants and their slaves.  If we think and act like that in today’s world we don’t get to stay a boss for very long.  It’s a lot more complicated than that today but the baseline truth remains that anyone who is just and fair to another, with all that it means, is starting from the right place to be good boss.  When it all comes down to it, we consider our best bosses to be the ones who treated as we should have been treated and thereby we grew and developed while we worked for them. And the opposite treatment will also be remembered.

I sometimes can feel that God has burdened us with so much more than those who don’t believe in Him.  If I was not a believer, I’d hold myself to my own acceptable standards and I might, even when others don’t think I am, think that I am being a good person.  That seems a lot easier.  But you see, we live in a larger shadow that He cast for us from the cross.  We must live up to what we have been called and for that commitment we can know that we are truly in service to our King. That is what it means to follow the best boss of all.
