day 2630: Over Droning It

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Within a month or so Amazon says that they will begin making deliveries with drones of items up to 5 pounds within a 15 mile radius and in less than 30 minutes.  These aren’t just any kind of drones.  These are some very technologically advanced flying delivery devices that can sense all kinds of obstacles to make them safe and reliable. And so it goes. The future is showing up sooner than we imagined and once again it be being driven by the consumerism that is at the heart of our economy. What the consumer wants is powerful and can advance companies to break all kinds of barriers.  We should watch and not forget the journey of the drone from a toy, to a hobby, to a weapon, to an enabler for each of us.

Certain religious denominations just recognized and celebrated the time of the Pentecost.  This being the moment that the Holy Spirit moved through the followers of Jesus and changed how God would forever speak to us and move our lives.  How God leads is how He allows each of us, if we so accept it, to deliver His message to others.  The metaphor of a drone holds up.  Could it be that God has placed us right where we are, within 15 miles and 30 minutes to reach and touch someone for Him?  Could it be that today we are the future that shows up for someone whose life could forever be changed?
