day 2755: Kobe

“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”

Yesterday morning, we were still in church and our Pastor, Terry Brisbane, had just finished teaching on the importance of building our lives on a solid foundation of the love and the seeking of Christ. As part of his message he reminded us that it is not what positions, titles and ranks we grow to or the material and financial gains we have. It was a powerful message.  And then, I looked down at my phone and there was a notification that Kobe Bryant had been killed in a helicopter crash.

The surprise and tragic passing of Kobe, or any who have reached a place in our culture are sad reminders that what we have here is so temporal and that we are to not focus on the things we can see here, but to the things beyond us, the things that are of God and His Kingdom.
