day 2997: Dual Windows

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!

It was a big day for a Marvel movie premier (seems like they all are these days doesn’t it?).  The movie Black Widow not only opened in theaters for IRL viewing to about $160MM globally, but also brought in another $60MM in $30 premium downloads from Disney+ subscribers.  What does this tell us? I think it tells us that there is room for dual windows, or better said, consumer segmentation.  There was a time that there was only one way to watch a movie and that was to make the action of going to the theater, whether we really wanted to do so or not.  And all the people who didn’t want to leave their homes or were uncomfortable in a theater, for whatever reason?  They were just ignored.  But, now we can give a window to our consumers, offering to meet them where they want to be.  And, it’s not just movie theaters.  We are seeing the same with restaurants and other consumer experiences where some like to be there live and others want to experience dining or shopping at home.  Dual windows I believe will be a long term part of our future.

I wonder if part of our faith journey is understanding that God has given us a dual window too.  Could it be that what we experience daily in our lives is just one window that we are given and the other is the window of our walk with Christ as we ready ourselves for our eternal destination.  Just as we are learning how to adapt and understand how to make the most of the dual windows of entertainment and services all around us, are we to not also be doing our best to understand and appreciate what our current life window is telling us about our window with God?  Everyday God gives us a peek of our future when we allow ourselves to tap into His love and forgiveness.  He widely opens His window for us to experience His fullness if we only choose to accept it.
