day 3K66: abc.xyz

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

abc.xyz might be the most clever web address out there right now.  Know what company it is?  Let me give you a clue; the market cap of the company as I write this is nearly $2 Trillion dollars.  You may still not know that abc.xyz is the web home of Alphabet (parent company of Google).  As you might recall, Alphabet became the name of the parent company for all of the companies that were once under the Google name.  When they made this change, one could imagine that all of the obvious domains and URLs were already taken.  So, Alphabet went the opposite direction and grabbed the .xyz domain. It worked so elegantly so they covered the start and the end of the alphabet, which is what they want to do; cover the broad expanse of technologies.  Sometimes, what we do with our brands and web presence can extend well beyond what we originally planned.

It’s the last work day of 2021 so we have seen both the first and now the last day of this crazy year.  And come Monday we will start a new work year and spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to get our plans off of the ground and moving forward.  These first days and first steps are very important. If we don’t know where we are starting then we really can’t know where we might go next.  What we have going for us is that our God knows a few things about starting something and moving it forward.  He is indeed our Alpha and our Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.  So, while we finish this year, it is not the end, it is a new beginning.  Let’s end this year and start the next with God as the director of our future.
