day 3K360: Making The Push

“He had healed many people that day, so all the sick people eagerly pushed forward to touch him.”

Wow, I didn’t realize how much the book publishing world has changed since I published my first book with co-author Hank Stringer in 2006.  Back then we were “busy” with scheduling travel on where to go and sit in bookstores with the hope that a few people would show up. We were also busy with scheduling speaking events at conferences and companies. But, because of travel limitations (time and distance and inability to be in more than one place at a time) it wasn’t like these were every day.  Fast forward to 2023 and Terry Brisbane and I have published “The Faith Code” and amidst a changed world.  “Events” are online and we can be doing 3-5 podcasts a day.   Just the calendaring and keeping up has become a full-focused endeavor.  And, every day we have to make a “push” to move things forward a little more. And, these pushes sometimes feel like what we are seeing a lot in the NFL and College Football this season with 1-3 yards needed on 4th down…it’s a big scrum shove of the quarterback to gain just the small amount of yards needed for the first down.  What I am saying is it feels like a lot of effort to just get a little gain, but it must be done.  We each have our daily pushes (reports, chores, audits, commitment communication, payments, writings, calls, etc.) that we need to make and sometimes they can like a real burden or needing too much energy or attention, but we have to find the grit, persevere and get them done.

Imagine wanting to be so close to Jesus that you would push through a crowd to get there?  That’s literally what happened as He healed and taught.  Today, are we pushing ourselves to be more like Him? Are we accepting of His pull for us to come closer and push out the other things in life that have crowded Him out?  Do we have others around us who are willing to give us the push we need to make progress on an area of life that is holding us back from being closer to Jesus?  Finally, is it time to make a new push?
