day 1979: Easy Login

“Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.”

Well, HBO has a bit of a problem.  A while back the CEO of HBO said in an interview that he was cool with people sharing their logins and passwords to HBO NOW.  That was cool with him until Andy Samberg, while hosting the Emmy’s gave out his legitimate credentials.  Well, it worked until so many people started logging in that they shut it down saying, “too many users are using the same device”.  Technically, no one was on the same device, but it was their way of saying, “Stop!”  What does this tell us?  First, be careful what you say at all times.  Second, be ready for someone to be listening to what you say.  Third, if you ended up saying something, promising, or implying something about your business, then be ready to follow through and back it up.

As I was reading the news of Sunday night’s activity, I was reminded that we are like the credentials of God and that we can be that in the workplace.  God has said that we are His workers and we are to bring others to Him in all that we do.  And for many, how they view God and what He can do to change the lives of people, comes from what they see in us.  So, when someone looks at us as their first step into logging into God, if we aren’t there for them, or if we lock them out, then we run the risk of that person turning away from God, maybe for good.  So, as we think about today, let’s see if we can’t be an easy login for anyone who is searching and seeking.
