day 2186: Thinking Over The Future

“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”

Lots of people like to prognosticate and predict the future.  Few ever get it correct, but still we try as hard as we can see what the future will hold.  The New York Times recently did a fun little survey of their readers to see what they were excited about as it relates to the future of technology.  Here were the results:

As we plan and allocate our resources and time for the future, it’s important that we do our best to understand what our customers and consumers desire, but in most cases, the future has to be shown to people for them to say, “Yes, that is what I want”.  Perhaps, that is why so many of our gadgets and gizmos look a lot like those that were props in the science fiction comics, books and television of eons ago.  For people to see the future, it is trying to imagine something that they can’t yet see, and for all but a few, that’s really hard.  So, we have to lead them there.

Out faith is believing in what we yet cannot see.  Our future is secure with God, but we have to believe for it to be so. Our current days may be uncertain but our eternity has been insured for us!
