day 2318: Consolidation

“If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.”

CVS is buying Aetna.  Wow.  There’s one that even as recent as a year ago, would not have shown up on a merger and acquisition strategic opportunity chart.  And, maybe this would never have been a possibility until Amazon decided to get into the pharmacy business.  But now that it is out there and we can see the changing landscape, the consolidation of the industry like CVS and Aetna makes sense.  In all of our industries we need to be doing our best to look ahead and see where we can be stronger with someone else, and more importantly, how might it be that we end up being let behind, or shut out, because we have tried to go it alone.

I’ll just say it, life is too complex and too risky to try to go it alone. And, I’m not even talking about when we are trying to follow Jesus. We are taught to have Godly advice and counsel, but we need to go further and be sure that we are consolidating God’s Word, prayer and fellowship into our lives in a way that become part and parcel in how we go about our days.  Compared to times past, the world around us is changing at light speed and we can get caught right up in the middle of it all and risk how it will be when (not if, when) we slip and fall. That is why we cannot attempt to go it alone. Let’s look to our Lord to protect us and also be the great consolidator of all that is Him into our lives.
