day 2161: Bending

“I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.”

“Can’t we just bend the rules a little?”, asks the sales leader to the financial officer as the quarter ends.  Seems far-fetched that in today’s day and age this happens, but it still does. And it is that moment when the answer comes back that can change everything.  Sometimes when we are asked to bend something, it is not all bad as we do have to be flexible to adapt to change and new circumstances, but bending should be carefully considered to be sure that we aren’t bending what needs to stay rigid and if bent actually ends up breaking something more important.

I love that David asked God to bend down to hear his prayer because his request would not be included in our Bible had God not wanted us to know that when we request Him to bend towards us, that he will do so.  Our prayers are pleasing to God and allows Him to fulfill His promises to us.  So, let’s not be fearful, ashamed or hesitant to ask Him to bend closer and closer to us.

Also, thank you to all who reached out with their prayers and words of encouragement after yesterday’s post.  Patti is doing great and the “foreign object” that was surgically removed, well, it appears it was a bristle from a wire grill brush, which we have learned is not all that uncommon to be ingested.  Word of experience: throw the wire one away and go to nylon or the the metal springs that can’t detach. As they say, experience is expensive, so we can thank Patti for making the investment for the rest of us to learn.
