day 2241: The Danger Of Falling

“Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.”

As we age, one of the most critical situations that we must avoid is that of falling.  The older we get, from childhood on, the more dangerous a fall can be.  Lots of research has been done on falling and how to protect ourselves once we fall. We can think of falls as having three stages: initiation, descent and impact,” wrote Stephen Robinovitch, a professor at Simon Fraser University.  It’s good to know the three stages, but nothing is safer than not falling to begin with.  And so it is in our business life.  Falls can be defined in many ways…a fall from favor, a falling out with the boss, falling from our position, falling market share, profits or revenue.  It doesn’t matter what it is, we don’t want to fall if we can help it so it’s all about making sure, like we have to with our bodies; being strong in the core, keeping our balance, holding on when we have the opportunity for support, and watching where we are going.

In our faith journey, we don’t want to fall away from Him.  He won’t let us fall from our failings as He will always pick us up whenever we do, but we must be steadfast in that we don’t fall away from the grace and love that He extends to us.  In order to not fall away, we must continue to lean closer and closer so that all of us is dependent first and foremost on Him.
