day 2238: Cover Me!

“He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”

“Cover me!”  When we read or hear that statement our mind might go to a police TV show or a war movie.  But actually we might not use the same words but we say the same thing all day at work when we ask for someone to read an email before we send it, or when we have someone review the presentation deck, or bring along a sidekick to the sales presentation, or ask a peer to meet with the boss with us so that all the bases are covered.  We depend on others covering us all day long.  The question we have to ask ourselves is how well are we providing cover for others?

David describes God’s covering for us as feathers and wings.  At first glance we might say, “That’s pretty flimsy coverage.”  But, we know better.  God’s feathers are full and repellent.  His wings are powerful and able to lift and loft us above any harm.  With whatever we face today, He will cover us and also give us what we need to cover others.
