day 2213: The Lowest Point

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

It is science that water will find its way to the lowest point it can travel. That’s why you never hear anyone say, “We’ve got water in the attic!!!”  We can also use this science and apply it to failings in our businesses. What starts at the top, if not stopped, will seep its way into all levels, including all the way to the entry level.  In converse, problems that emanate from the front-line and start to rise, will swiftly be squashed when a higher level of values and principles push it back down.  For these reasons, the decisions we make on who we hire, from the top down, are critical and we need to pay close attention to what it is that leaders and managers believe and espouse.  Want to have a company where corners are cut and untruths are prevalent?  Just let it happen in the C-Suite and then watch out for what happens.

I sometimes think my brain has high points and low points that the worst seeks to seep through.  It takes a lot to get me down, but like everyone else, worry, doubts and fear can find their way into me and then begin to accumulate and pool to the point that I can feel like I am drowning in the swamp. It’s not a far distance from my eyes and ears into whatever part of me that is the lowest point, but like water, the bad stuff seems to find its way there.  But, God gives us a higher ground and place to dam the bad water and have it pumped out.  As we are told in 2 Timothy, the spirit we are given is not of fear, but of power and a sound mind.  So, when we are hit with the bad waters that want to take us to our lowest point, let’s call on God’s promise to raise us back up!
