day 2204: Generators

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me”

Generators are always welcome.  Revenue generators!  Idea generators!  Deal generators!  Talent generators!  We love generators and we’d be fortunate to be spoiled with so many that we wouldn’t know what to do with them.  However, if we took our employee rosters and put a mark next to each person we would say are generators, how many would there be?  Would the percentage be high enough to say that our business will continue to grow?  If not, then we should be on the lookout for more.  There is another type of generator and those are the pieces of machinery that create electricity when the power goes out.  We might not even know they are there, but when the power is gone, they go to work and keep us out of the dark.  Well, maybe that holds up for the definition of certain people in our business as well.  These are the people that when it seems like the power has run out, they bring from the dark, a spark and get us going again.  Yes, these are also important and powerful generators for our organizations.

At my church, Cornerstone in SF, Pastor Terry just finished an eleven week series on Growing Through Adversity (I highly recommend you check it out). To complete the messages he ended with Paul telling us where his strength was generated.  Like the metaphor of the generator, Paul tells us that Christ’s power for and within us is at it’s strongest when our own power and strength is depleted.  Yes, it is when we are weak that He can be His strongest for us. So, if it feels like the power is out today, then it is time to let God do the generating.
